Tattoo Pictures and their Symbols

Many people consider tattoos as an elevated art form. Much like traditional art, tattoo images can also communicate a story without using any words. This image drawn on the human body are not mere pictures but representations of characteristics and traits that can be identified with the person.

Tattoo pictures or tattoo art symbolize many things. Whether it is a simple feather or an intrinsic face inked in your body, tattoo images can reveal a story or a symbolism.

One of the most popular tattoo images used is a feather. In Native America, feathers are always associated with birds, and birds are considered as a sacred animal. They are often used as a sign of power and is only reserved for tribe chiefs, elders, medicine man, and shamans. Feather tattoos are said to bring the prayers of these individuals to their gods.

A flower tattoo embodies nature, life, birth and death. In Christianity, a three- petal tattoo flower symbolizes the Holy Trinity. A white-colored iris tattoo can be associated with the Virgin Mary.

If you have a flame tattoo, it may mean that you have a thirst for transformation and change. A flame tattoo may also symbolize light and hope.

Another common tattoo picture is the dragon. In the East, this mythical creature is considered as a sign of luck. A fire breathing dragon is also associated with rain and lighting which makes it a symbol of fertility. In many Japanese tattoo pictures, the powerful dragon is often drawn with other tattoo images such as the yin and yang. This means that the power of the dragon is balanced by the yin and yang.

A tattoo fish picture is a representation of strength of character. A koi or carp is used to show courage as these fishes are known to go against and current and climb waterfalls. The same fish also stands for wisdom, knowledge and loyalty.
